Questions & Answers about the Baby Bjorn Sun Cover:
• Any useful tips when using the Sun Cover? • Make sure that the Sun Cover screens your child completely and that his or her hands or feet, for example, are not sticking out from under the material. The Sun Cover works best when allowed to hang loosely and should not be stretched or placed tightly against your child’s body. You should also avoid getting the Sun Cover wet. Checking your child regularly to make sure that he or she doesn’t get too hot when you are out in the sun is to be recommended.
N.B. Small babies should not be exposed to strong sunlight at all – avoid going out in the sun completely when it is at its strongest, namely in the middle of the day.
• Can I use the sun-hood by itself? • If you want to use the sun-hood by itself, simply remove it from the cape and stretch the elastic loops over the Baby Carrier’s headrest.
N.B. Remember that the shade does not offer complete protection from the sun’s rays: you must protect your child’s skin in strong sunlight, even when you are in a shady place.
• Will my child get warmer under the sun cover than without it? • The world-leading test institute Intertek RAM tested the sun cover and found that it does not make the child’s environment hotter. The sun cover does reflect some of the heat radiation, however, it is still important to make certain that your child does not become overheated.
• How long can my child and I stay out in the sun if we use the Sun Cover? • Check the UV index for the day in your current location. If the UV index is 3 or higher, stay in the shade and stay out of the sun completely between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Remember that the shade does not offer complete protection from the sun’s rays, and that ultraviolet radiation levels can be high, even on cloudy days. When you are out in the sun, keep an eye on your child to make sure that he or she does not overheat, and make sure that all of your child’s body, including his or her hands and feet, are protected.
• How do I wash the Sun Cover? • Wash the Sun Cover separately at 40o C. We recommend to use a mild, bleach-free detergent.
• What material is the Sun Cover made from? • 100% polyester. The material is Oeko-Tex Standard 100 Class 1 certified, which means that it contains no hazardous or allergenic substances, so your child will not be harmed if he or she sucks the Sun Cover material.
• What is the Sun Cover’s UPF (Ultraviolet Protection Factor)? • The textile used in the Sun Cover has a UPF 40 rating, which means it offers excellent protection against the sun’s harmful rays, blocking 97.5% or more of solar UV radiation.
UPF (Ultraviolet Protection Factor) is the standard used to describe how well a garment/textile protects against harmful solar rays.
• How do I attach the Sun Cover to the Baby Carrier? • The Sun Cover is easy to attach – simply pull the elastic loop over the clips on the Baby Carrier’s headrest.

About Baby Bjorn Baby Carriers:
BabyBjörn’s first baby carrier was launched in 1973. It was called “Hjärtenära” (Close to the heart) and was a simpler version of today’s BABYBJÖRN Baby Carrier Original. It changed the way parents carry their babies.
“In the early 1970s, every other doctor you heard was going on and on about the importance of close contact with small babies. Suddenly, everyone wanted baby carriers and the only one available was a Japanese one,” remembers Björn Jakobson, BabyBjörn’s founder and President.
“BabyBjörn couldn’t afford an industrial designer back then,” continues Björn, “so we developed and tested a model by ourselves. We acted as the test family, to see how it worked as a part of a family’s everyday life.”
